Privacy Policy

Shardz keeps your collection on your phone. This page says what the app and this website keep, what they send over the internet, and what you can ask of us.

Last updated: October 21, 2026 · Applies to the Shardz TCG iPhone app and shardztcg.com

This policy is written in plain words and may be reviewed and updated by a lawyer. When it changes, the date above changes too.

The short version

  • There's no Shardz account. We don't ask for your name, email or phone number in the app.
  • Your collection, folders, wishlist, price alerts and photos stay on your phone. We don't have a copy.
  • The app asks our server and public card databases for card details, pictures and prices. Those requests carry no personal information.
  • No ads, no tracking, no selling data.
  • If you join the website's waitlist, we keep your email and the date, only to tell you when Shardz is out.

Who we are

Shardz TCG is made by Ron Sandel, an individual developer based in Wendell, North Carolina, USA ("we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal information described here.

What stays on your phone

These are saved only on your iPhone, in the app's own storage. We never receive them.

  • Your collection, folders, wishlist, set goals, price alerts and recorded trades.
  • Your Collector ID: the name, picture and details you choose to put on it.
  • Settings, such as your currency, appearance and scanner options, and the card data you download for the scanner.

Camera

The camera is used to recognize cards. The pictures are compared with card data on your phone and are not uploaded or saved.

Photos

The app saves share images to Photos only when you choose to. If you pick a photo for your Collector ID, it stays on your phone.

Sharing your binder

When you show your Collector ID's QR code, the details are inside the code itself. Nothing is uploaded; whoever scans it reads it straight from your screen.

Backups

"Export collection" creates a file on your phone and opens the share sheet. You decide where it goes (Files, AirDrop, Mail…). We don't receive it.

Notifications

Price alerts and the free-trial reminder are scheduled on your phone. We don't use a push-notification service and don't receive a notification address.

Deleting the app deletes all of this. You can also clear your collection or wishlist in Profile › Data.

What the app sends over the internet

To show card details, pictures and prices, the app makes requests to the services below. Like any request on the internet, each one carries your phone's IP address so the answer can come back. The requests don't include your name, an account, a device identifier or your collection.

WhoWhat forWhat they receive
Our server (a Cloudflare Worker run by us)Card lists, pictures, scanner data and today's prices (passed on from JustTCG)Which cards or sets are asked for. Your IP address is used only for a short-term limit on how many requests one address can make; we don't store it.
TCGdex, Scryfall, OPTCG API, tcgcsv.com, pokemontcg.ioCard details and pictures for Pokémon, Magic and One PieceWhich cards are asked for, under their own privacy policies
Frankfurter (European Central Bank rates)Exchange rates, if you show prices in another currencyA request for today's rates

Shop links

"Buy" buttons open TCGplayer, Cardmarket or eBay in your browser. The TCGplayer and eBay links are partner links, which tell the shop the visit came from Shardz so we may earn a small commission. What you do on those sites is covered by their privacy policies.

Purchases

Shardz Pro is bought through Apple. Apple handles payment, and we never see your name, email or card details.

To check whether Pro is active on your devices, the app uses RevenueCat. It receives an anonymous ID created by the app and your App Store purchase receipts, under RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Crash reports

When the app crashes, it may send a crash report to Sentry so we can fix the bug. A report contains technical details: device model, iOS version, app version and where the error happened. It doesn't include your collection, photos or contact details.

This website and the waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address and the date you signed up. We don't keep your IP address with it. We use it only to tell you when Shardz is available, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

The website uses no cookies, analytics or ad trackers, and loads nothing from other companies' servers.

What we never do

  • Show ads, or let ad networks or data brokers into the app.
  • Track you across other apps and websites.
  • Sell, rent or trade personal information.

Your rights

Almost everything the app knows about you is on your phone and under your control. For anything we do hold, such as a waitlist email, you can write to us and we'll answer within 30 days.

Philippines: Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173)

You have the right to be informed, to access, to object, to erasure or blocking, to rectification, to data portability and to damages. You can also complain to the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph).

European Union, EEA and United Kingdom: GDPR

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can complain to your local data protection authority.

Our reasons for using data: answering the app's requests for card data and prices is needed to provide the service you asked for (contract, or our legitimate interest in running it). The waitlist is based on your consent.

Everywhere else

Wherever you live, write to us and we'll help with access to or deletion of anything we hold.

How long we keep things

  • Waitlist emails: until we've announced the launch, then deleted within 90 days, or sooner if you ask.
  • Server data: card data and price records only, with no personal information.
  • Crash reports (if enabled): deleted after 90 days.

Where data is processed

Cloudflare, Apple, RevenueCat and the card databases may process requests in countries other than yours. They protect transfers under their own terms, such as the EU's standard contractual clauses.

Children

Shardz is for card collectors of all ages, but isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think a child has given us an email, write to us and we'll delete it.

Changes and contact

If we change what the app collects, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect. Questions or requests: support@shardztcg.com.
